Probably they are promoting it well considering what's likely the people they want to reach mainly, that it seems to be the teen anime fandom. But that's yet to be known until the movie is released

I think so. I remember joining robotech.com on jan 2006 right after my friends and I talked about our favourite cartoons (Robotech was among the list, we asked
ourselves, did it had an ending?) and suddenly I began to recall the show's theme... using google and stumbled upon Darkwater's Robotech page... an
very concise fanpage that consisted a lot of Robotech stuff i dont quite recall now. and after that I encountered a badly designed website , what we know as
robotech.com... so for a long time I came aware of shadow chronicles because I googled "Robotech sequel" and fan pages appeared.... then I joined the
bandwagon of Robotech fans...
I think HG is not doing an effective promoting approach due to their lack of consistence. If there is some form of marketing (appearing in one issue of a computer magazine is a big deal?), then i think the marketing strategy is probably an old fashion ineffective style that has not been as strong as other ads I've seen around the net and in magazines. Personally, I wanted to do a lot of promotion when TSC came out (myspace,hi5, orkut, etc etc) and making a profile page with the help of my friends who do those type of promos for fun... (hence, Lily Allen is now big due to her humble origins on myspace.com)... I really haven't seen any TSC promos anywhere outside robotech.com and it's a sham. They can do a lot of multitasking to expand their corporate image but it seems they are probably not in a position to do so OR they don't want to... If there's something beyond what I've mentioned then I really don't know... I recall someone at a film festival asking a happy spokesperson after TSC ended and said something "the future of robotech is going great!! fantastic!"... I've never seen someone so enthusiastic but ... then again the theatre wasn't full, the audience we're distanced from one another and a majority of viewers left after the movie ended and the HG staff realized they had to say that they were going to have Q&A's. I remember when Tila Tequila first started her myspace on 2003, she used to reply personally her queries but as time grew she had assistants working as bots adding people randomnly all over myspace and probably by now everyone knows her. so i hope the sequel , for their sake, has a better marketing strategy. |

I really have a hunch that Tommy Yune and whoever from HG visits the Space Station liberty is a fair attempt of letting themselves be heard around the Robotech
community. Even though it won't cost them a thing they cannot rely on making announcements via a podcast and then assume the fans will spread the word.
When I lived in the states I hardly saw any ads on Robotech nor a word on the street about it. Perhaps the marketing dept strictly focused their approach to a
specific audience (anime people, fanboys, etc) and maybe that's why I don't know much about HG's whereabouts. I'm not even sure if I'm
bashing the company, I just felt that discussing these points can help the company aim for other untouched grounds, but then again I'm not a marketing
expert and only saw the whole commotion as a concern and not derogatory in any way.
I've been reading this board for some time and the strong criticism makes me believe that you hardcore fans are perhaps the best choices to aggressively make diverse campaigns around the web if hired by HG... as some form of marketing/promotions group. There's a lot of dedication coming from all of you and that is a Plus in contrast to someone who's working there just to make ends meet. |
