I really don't know about the Funimation thing at all myself, but if its true I think its too bad that it seems they didn't learn the first time around. That whole announcement of a series in 2002 when no deals were finalized was a mistake, but the past is the past and people move on. But I remember Tommy gloating about Funimation wanting to fund part II when at the screening in LA last year, and then the trailer cut for it (using all footage from the first one) at Comic-Con and Anime Expo. If this is being done with no deal in place, then the cycle is just repeating itself.

But, at this point my attitude is "whatever." Like I said, I don't know what's going on anymore and past experience has taught me not to get my expectations up. Its just a shame that a lot of fans came back to RT because of RSC and will now have relive what we all did.

In my opinion, they ban people because they take the minute amount of people who are on the forum as something that reflects the entire fandom. And its seem they take it all quite personally.

I've said it before, I have a job that gets criticized online somewhere, everyday. I don't take it personally because I know that 99.9% of the people that do criticise my work have no idea who I am or any idea what my working conditions are like. They're just fanboys looking for something to vent about and shit, I've been there myself plenty of times myself. Plus, I know I do a good job when I see the numbers at the end fo the day.

Another important factor is that I don't let it affect my work, either. The vocal fanboys are such a minority that, cold hard evidence has proven, they don't really make that much of a difference at all. Shit, my old Robotech blog had an average of 600 readers and I think they sold a few more RSC DVD's than that.

But, when you're working on a media franchise, and if you only choose to look primarily at other forms of media that cover it, its easy to lose sight of where you and your work stands on a global scale.

Interestingly enough, and I can't verify how true this is, but I heard that Steve really doesn't have anything to do with the bannings and it's mainly Tommy. From what I was told, Steve could really give two shits about anything said on the forum, but he steps in and becomes the "bad guy" when needed. That makes sense, because it would look quite odd from a PR standpoint if the guy who was the Creative Director, the animation director, co-writer and artist on Robotech was also the guy patrolling the forums and banning people. Again, can't say how true that is, but it would seem to make sense.
