Things changed - and it took on a different meaning as time went on. Apparently, you are the only one allowed to change your motivations. You'll note that the other material that originally accompanied my using that line in my sigs (remember, I started using that quote on 12 September 1997, the day AFTER he said it on the Babylon 5 usenet board), that were attacks on Peter, I removed almost a decade ago, and left the line that could stand on its own as a truism, not as an attack on Peter. Hell, it was one of the most true things he ever said, and he didn't even remember saying it, until I posted the text of his Usenet post when he wanted proof that he said it (with headers). That was BEFORE the RDF-HQ was on ezBoard (I believe that confrontation was on Tim Macross' Robotech Page forum, or the Cantina ML), Checking my oldest post in the archive here (from 2000), I had already removed it before then. Why do you keep beating that dead horse of a "Straw Man" argument?

And, of course I was not joking about that - I was making a hypothesis, grounded in real events. FPilot, BRL and I WERE at Gen Con. We DID hang around with Tom Bateman. We DID have free exchange of ideas, and were shown (in confidence) certain things we are not at liberty to describe, and gave him additional OSM research that HG had not discovered. We even sat on a panel with him and Chris Meadows, and arranged for Kevin S. to send several hundred dollars of free gaming material with him back to HG as part of the RPG license research material, as those negotiations were ongoing (after all, consider how out of date HG's copies of Palladium's stuff was, and how much that system has evolved - it would be cheaper to send it by Tom). However, when he returned from Gen Con, SOMETHING that had happened that got him into the doghouse at HG (and he had been their official rep at the con). Not too long after that, he was let go. Therefore, there is reason to suspect that someone didn't like him associating with those of us that are the loudest dissenters from the robotech.com party line. There are possibly other hypotheses one could make, but unlike the others I know what events occured priorto his return to HG, and can't help but wonder.

As for Dave being persecuted on other boards - I have seen him banned for responding to things that others were saying (the others were saying worse things as personal attacks against him), yet the others saying such things were not banned. That's one of the reasons why I don't go to the Palladium Forums anymore -too many mods playing favorites, letting some of the trolls run amok. To me, that qualifies as persecution (regardless of other things he may have said - in the cases I was present for, he was banned for defending himself, NOT for any offensive posts he made - and I was told by Private message by someone that considers himself "godlike" (check for a synonym that begins with a D) that it was exactly the case, when I protested - and that mod seemed to gloat over it); and you and I both should know what that feels like. I seem to remember a poster on the Robotech ML that got as hard headed and belligerent (as Dave is on the Palladium forum) from being misrepresented and censored there (more by Rat, than by anyone else), whose initials were J.A. Didn't he go on to start the RDF-HQ?

BTW, Cav, I TRIED pasting over the material into a new post - there's something about Yuku that keeps people (me, at least) from using CTRL-C to copy. The only way to bring the Pics and the like from this thread was to copy this thread into Hardcore, MERGE it into another one I created, then delete out all the truly contentious parts. I WAS going to finish editing the rest of the stuff out today from that fragment of a copy, as I ended up crashing out shortly after the deletions I did last night, but you took matters into your own hands first to prevent it.

I didn't mean it as a dig - people hijack threads all the time, and as a Mod on other forums (including the Stratics MMO forums) I've never heard of anyone considering someone saying a thread had been hijacked as a dig- only a statement of "well, that went off into left field because 'x' posted "y'..." - unless someone hijacked a thread to post porn, links to trojans, etc.
