What do we know? (Tirol, Fantoma) |

What do we know about Tirol and/or Fantoma? I suspect there is very little form the series itself, so this one is pretty open to all RT sources.

I suspect best source is going to be the Sentinels Novelizations.

Fantoma is a gas giant some magnitude near the size of Jupiter. Tirol is a moon, with a roughly earth type atmosphere by all accounts. There is at least one
other moon in the novels, which Zentradi miners used to work on, and I recall there might be others.
I recall that either the other moon or the star itself was called Valivarre in some sources, but I don't know which specifically (I think the McKinny novelizations). Tirol itself features several cities at least. The capital is nameless as far as I am aware. The only other specifically named city was Rylak (SP) in the Sentinels Animation. The animation depicted it as largely a barren temperate desert environment. The sentinels art/script books and comics had a fairly large chunk of information, but nothing too detailed that stands out in my mind. ---- On a semi related note, the animation referred to Tirol being in the "system of the Southern Cross" both in the Macross Saga and in the Sentinels Animation, but it has always confused me why the UEDF Army was known as The Army of the Southern Cross as well...Beyond the connection to the OSM's title, why did Macek and the others use the name/reference twice? I recall something about the Army of the Southern Cross being intentionally named for the constelattion from which the Master's would come, to indicate
that they were watching it for their approach or some such.

An interesting coincidence from the tv series...
The first capture is implied to be the RM's homeworld during Dana/Musica's vision in "Daydreamers" (during the flower of life song) and the second is the Invid homeworld Ariel/Sera/Regiss see during their vision in "Midnight Sun':
Look very similar, perhaps the Masters and Invid originally came from the same world or at least the same system? Also, couldn't that gas formation around both planets and their moons be what becomes the Invid sensor nebula? Something to ponder anyway. Yeah I know, in the spinoffs Tirol is a moon to the ringed gas giant Fantoma. Although another interesting coincidence is that if you look at a wider capture of the system in "Daydreamers" there appears to be a ringed gas giant visible (lower right corner) although a different color than the one portrayed in Sentinels

It occurred to me after I posted, what if the daydreamer world is actually the Flower of life's homeworld. Which would also make it the Invid's, and in
an abstract way the RM/Musica's and Zentreadi/Dana's as both societies owe their creation/evolution directly to the FOL. I still find the idea that the
RM's and Invid originate from the same home system very intriguing.

IINM the Masters lacked the PC to Fold directly to Earth, so some part of their interstellar journey could require another low efficiency method of interstellar travel (FTL or not). Is RT like Star Trek with a variety of FTL methods available (Warp, Slipstream, "Conduits"/"Corridors", Space Fold) or more like Andromeda (and some other Sci-Fi) where there appears to be only one method of FTL available? rtsurfer: Look very similar, perhaps the Masters and Invid originally came from the same world or at least the same system? Something to ponder anyway.I don't know about the ISN idea, it could provide the building blocks though. I've always taken the blue "halos" in TRM space backgrounds to be art errors. The ISN was shown in the series as a multi-colored affair. With stars blue is hotter than Red, I'm not sure if this also applies to gas clouds. Still I like the idea that the Masters and Invid could have come from the same system, I'm just not to keen on the idea of the Masters and Invid developing on the same world since some RT incarnations have the (2nd) Invid Homeworld desvestated by the Masters. |

Man Tirol seems like a barren planet. Seems pretty damm harsh.

Yea, Not much there, though that could be a result of umpteen years of overuse by the Masters, war damage (say previous Invid Attacks?), or it just has always
been pretty craptastic, hence the Masters acting out like spoiled kids in nabbing up all the pretty shiny planets from the other kids in town.
