Tommy and Steve's treatment for Shadow Rising. I can neither confirm nor deny the authenticity of this person's claims or his posts, but if it is true (and I am of the belief that it is) then this is the first look we, the fans, are getting of Shadow Rising. Like it or hate it, here's your chance to judge. I should probably be weary of the idea that, perhaps, this is a purposeful leak by Tommy Yune and company to build-up anticipation, but the second post on the blog, regarding that... *Quote:* Funimation proposed an undisclosed sum of money. In order to get that money, Harmony Gold would need to change the animation studios to a Japanese studio, and would need to share movie story and direction with Funimation. ...is less than flattering to the Harmony Gold side. (not my face, mind you) Hubudahhubudahhubudahhubudahhubudah... With my initial shock gone, I have to say that this looks... pretty authentic. It reminds me of the time I saw the leaked Starwars Episode III plot on TheForce.net a year before the film - it spoke of Anakin chokeholding Padme because he was jealous or something - and years later, the scene actually did make it to the final product. Authentic or not, this... ah what the hell, it looks authentic enough and feels authentic enough. Felt a bit fanwanky and kinda convoluted, but overall I could imagine the damn thing as an animation in my mind. It's got a plot like a Saturday morning cartoon and revelations and twists very similar in tone to the ones in the first Shadow film - yep. So they decided to inject a lot of plot devices I've been speculating for some time... The 'heretic' Haydonites who will join the humans, the ultimate Jean Grey-Pheonix-superpowered anime chick sacrifice of Ariel. What surprised (shocked) me are the introduction of elements like... Zor? Cabell? Tirol? And... they... killed Scott, hero of The New Generation?? Nah, I always felt he should go, to give way to the new characters but 'meh' we all knew that. Overall, the draft could be completely fabricated, but for me, it felt real enough. At least I know what to expect.

It's hard to believe Yune could be so careless as to spill all this to some schmuck who will then proceed to blab it all over. I mean, Tom Bateman never showed Peter Walker more than the title page of any of his Shadow Chronicle treatments, and he stayed over at Peter's house for crying out loud. If there's the slightest grain of truth to it, I sure hope this guy enjoyed his brief friendship with Tommy and Steve because it's sure as hell dead and buried now.

Something just smells "fishy" about it. IF this is legit, there's an awful lot of information "leaked," which I find suspect this early in the game. I don't think we saw this much "concrete" plot information for TSC this early in the game, so a whole leaked story treatment filled with spoilers just doesn't seem right to me. Plus, the film is in the early preplanning stages (unless Harmony Gold is pulling a fast one on us), so there's a strong likelihood that the final product will bear little resemblance to what's been "leaked." Sergeant Posts: 81 (September 21, 2007 04:50 AM) Sergeant Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	Even if the treatment itself is authentic (of which I am hesitant to swing one way or the other; there's not really anything there that a fanfic-writing extrapolator could not have invented), the story surrounding it is fishy. Why would someone planning to blithely leak this information provide enough identifying details that Tommy and Steve could easily figure out who he is ("Who did we eat lunch with in that restaurant at that time?") and take corrective action? The whole story sounds like it was made up to add a veneer of authenticity to the thing. I'd be hesitant to believe the Funimation falling-out story, too. If the treatment is real (and I really hope it isn't), it was most likely leaked by someone within Harmony Gold. If it isn't, anyone could have made it up. Either way, I suspect it may be an attempt to smear Tommy and Steve (who, as we know, lots of hard-core fans love to hate, and some hit with pies), perhaps in "revenge" for fan favorite Tom Bateman leaving the company. I might ask Tommy about it if he shows up on my Space Station Liberty broadcast tonight.

There are a lot of fan-wankish (somewhat...) elements tossed around like Dana and Bowie showing up, and Cabell of all people, and Zor but some of the ideas sound kinda legit (at least to me) like Ariel summoning the power of the Regess, or Marcus' added backstory with Marlene, or the idea of a captured Haydonite (robots with souls??) and even the funky (albeit cliched) love quadrangle with Maia, Louie, Marcus and Janice... But in the end, I guess these ideas are pretty much a given seeing how the first film ended.

A friend with whom I was discussing this, who didn't want to get involved so I won't name names, pointed out that those images really don't look like scans. They're too clean. Also, this friend points out that if you look at the Properties of those images, and the properties of Adam Schiller's photo on Flickr for the RDF Underground photo contestflickr.com/groups/rdfunderground/ the one with the toilet, you'll notice they were all created with Photoshop on a Mac. The more I think about it, the more disinclined I am to regard this alleged "leak" as legitimate in any way, shape, or form.

If they were scanned via photoshop as jpegs and then converted this is exactly the quality one would expect. The thing I found odd was the crappy page break locations when they were not needed. But that aside the images themselves seem legit to me.

Is no secret when I upload the uncensored KP report a lot of people came to me asking to put it down, among them was Tom Bateman. In the time frame of this meeting Tom was working on HG, so we can assume that he got his hands on this scrip. In the article he mentions that Tom was fired, like if this was a way to get rid of him so the Yunes can do what they like. my thinking is that Tom was the leak, in the same way he has been in the past with the Hardcore fans, and been said in a way to hurt Tommy in the hopes he gets fired. And maybe... just maybe.... Tom can come back to work there and put his fiends in places that can wach his back the way they have done in the past, and in this board too. Seriously, I've learned enough about the Harmony Gold legal department as to not fuck with them to this extent. Going off on a fanboy rant on a message board, yeah, I 'll be more than happy to do. Exposing something like this - not my style. I don't think Tom would do something like this either. If this treatment is legit then Tom knows what sort of trouble he could be facing. He's not that careless imo. If this isn't legit, maybe it could be seen a libel (because lets face it, this treatment isn't that good).

The fact that this could be a huge leak, and if it is valid, could have huge ramifications as far as leaking out company confidential material. Tom, I know personally, and to say that he'd do something like this is out of his style, and out of his character. Tom isn't vindictive, so I'm sure it's not from him. Perhaps it's from another HG employee, maybe from a bogus writer. Maybe, just maybe, it is from Tommy himeself. I don't know, I'll take this one with a grain of salt, although, taken at face value, the article is pretty decent. It does seem like a garbage story, so I'm not sure if it's real or not. As for the questions of if the document is real or not, if it was done through photoshop, through whatever. If it was a word document that was printed or scanned, I know sanners save as .jpgs, .gifs, .pdfs, and all sorts of styles. Could've used PS as a converter type program to convert one file type to another. Just my guess. As for the cleanliness of the scan, that all depends on how high res the thing was made at.

It'll probably be a valuable piece of Robotech historical memorabilia in a few years. "Hey, remember back when some schmuck posted that 'Shadow Rising story treatment?'" And it'll be interesting to see if any of it is anywhere near how Shadow Rising eventually turns out. Here's another thing, on further thought, that makes it unlikely it's the real deal: in Shadow Chronicles, the entire maguffin of the rest of the series is set up to be Finding The SDF-3. But in the treatment, the SDF-3 appears for like five minutes, vanishes completely (save for the Haydonite trap), and is then never seen again apart from the "Admiral Hunter returns" bit on the last page. It just doesn't follow from what we've already seen. Chekhov's gun and all that.

I'd look it up, but I'm on limited time on the internet, as I am in Long Beach today running around different job sites. Anyways, why would he have taken it down? I read it once through, but unlike you guys quick to be on it, I didn't save it. I wonder if they have him all hand-cuffed and such. It'll probably have no reprocussions, especially if it was up one day, down the next. If anything, it'll be written off and forgotten. I wonder if that was what we are going to expect from part 2 though. Maybe some elements of it? What do you think will be the end result of this?
