What makes you so sure it's real or fake? Tommy on SSL last night? Those of you saying you know it's fake, I wonder what your intentions are in spreading it around so much. Do you hope to do some damage control for HG?

How a 1st time poster is the only other source getting the email claimed by KP. How quickly it disappeared. No other supporting information. When someone makes an extraordinary claim, they need to prove it. You dont simply accept it until proven wrong, unless you are biased. The description of the way in which the script was obtained would require HG execs to act in ways contrary to the way those of us who have known them personally for a while have observed them to act. The treatment itself is far below the quality one would expect from something written by professionals, and is dated much earlier than it is plausible for such a treatment to exist. The blog entries are an obvious attempt to smear the current employees of Harmony Gold, right down to the title of the blog being a great big "thanks Tommy and Kevin." How transparent can you get? Even if you want to think the worst of Tommy Yune, it's beneath us to be taken in by so transparent a trick. At least save your dislike for him for things he actually does. |

I was a first timer posting on here. This is true. I can see how that might be deemed fishy. All I know is I got an email. I am not making claims that I know anything other than what I found in my mail box. The email had a link. That link was to the blog. To be honest with you by the time I got around to actually reading any of the transcript it was gone. I couldn't even tell you if it was good or not. I just find this whole thing to be strange and pointless. Personally I am not one for spoilers. I would rather be surprised when I see the new film than read a treatment for an unfinished product (assuming it is real in the first place). I have no idea who gave this person my email address. Very few people have it. My communication in the Robotech community is very limited. Mostly I just stick to the Robotech.com boards. Those of you whom I have had the pleasure of communicating with outside RT.com know who you are. I hope you would be able to at least speak a little as to my character. I am about being fair and doing the right thing. Posting whatever this was on a blog,.. thats not the right thing to do for many reasons that I need not spell out for all of you. There are many people that are much more active and high profile than I am. I confuses me and it makes no sense that if it was to be real it would be sent to me. It may or may not be real. Personally I don't care either way. I think it's kind of whack to put it up on a blog for all to read if it is. It just seems like someone trying to make trouble just for the sake of making trouble. Personally I view that as childish. Anyhow I am finished. |

And for the lack of anything better to do (I came home late last night feeling pretty good), plus the fact that I really liked Mr. Meadows' show last night, I will post a transcript up just to hear the man's own words about this whole debacle: TRANSCRIPT: TOMMY YUNE [regarding the blog posts of a supposedly leaked treatment of Shadow Rising:] Obviously, this is a very serious matter, and what's serious to us is not so much someone purporting to be dealing in old inside information at Harmony Gold. What's really serious to us is that someone's making accusations of misconduct and wrongdoing of current staff at Harmony Gold. The folks here at the company took these accusations very seriously. I'll tell you the truth, I am not above scrutiny. I work for Harmony Gold and as an employee of Harmony Gold, I am expected to maintain standards as a worker here, you know, working for my company and in kind of a strange and roundabout way I do have to thank this individual for posting as much detail as they had because in essence, this had succeeded in providing us enough information where we could rule-out all presently employed Harmony Gold staff from having been involved in this. So on that regard, we do have a full legal team pursuing this because this is very serious and unfortunately, that's about as far as I can go with the comment on this because we have folks looking into this. So, there you have it. [regarding the blog's stuff with Funimation] It's also a matter of collaboration. I mean, there are times where you can have creativity and you can have commercial interests overlap. You have seen TV series and some of the more recent "Batman" series where the writing is actually quite good and it's actually able to move a product line surrounding the "Batman" property and so it's not impossible, it's just that we would state that, with some of the discussions we've had, fans would ask: "Why haven't [we] moved on something of that sort yet?" and we'll just be fairly honest, and we'll just say that we didn't feel we wanted to move with a set scenario because the priorities were different. I think where there's a possibility where the priorities can overlap, where the companies can agree on something, we can move forward on some type of a TV deal. Now in terms of the Funimation information that was posted, obviously there's enough information there where it's obvious to us that someone did have some access to some inside information but at the same time, it's not completely true. The way it was stated was deliberately stated to put all the parties, you know, obviously in a negative light and that's something we have a separate group of individuals looking into that, and I'll leave it at that. [Concluding] Obviously, we cannot go into as much detail as we would like to at this time. It's definitely something that we treat very seriously and we do have a legal team looking into it. [END TRANSCRIPT] I'm just thinking... Tommy doesn't completely deny leaving the paper and that there might be some problems facing Funimation - I'm just saying its all pretty ambiguous. Well, its not like anything is definite in the world of Robotech...  |

juan, from my past experience with Tom I doubt he had anything to do with this incident, at least not directly.
If HG was a boat it would have sunk as soon as the current PTB started interacting with the fandom. You wouldn't believe how many people I used to communicate with whom either worked for HG or had personal acquaintance with those who worked there and couldn't keep their mouths shut concerning confidential info...  Sometimes it was just because they were really excited and wanted to tell other hardcore fans, other times they were trying to manipulate the direction/future of Robotech by making others in contact with HG and/or very well known and vocal in the fandom aware of what was going on.Concerning that printed treatment... I was told by a number of people that Tommy almost always used his laptop to show off what he was working on (as wheeljack already pointed out). I only recall mention of him showing printed material when it was either from another source (like newly acquired OSM) or for promotional purposes. Although there was once talk of an incident where Tommy left his laptop briefly unattended and some fans plundered through it, details elude me now and it was only hearsay anyway. You know Juan, when I ran my website there were certain times I knew when to stop digging. Certain things will crossover from the typical fanboy back and forth to where it to where it enters the real world and begins to affect people's livelihood.
When I ran my sites I learned a lot of information from a number of sources that I could never repeat, for both ethical and possible legal reasons. And I've had my theories and opinions about a lot of things that went down but I never wanted to throw accusations that I wasn't 100% completely sure about. And especially if it was going to get someone in trouble legally like HG implied it might. I don't know about you, but I'm not vindictive enough to get anyone in trouble legally. I'm curious about what's going on, too, but if my theories could get someone in trouble, I'd back off. |

I saw this the other day and I didn't have time to comment on it until now.
I'll just say this: if that is a legitimate treatment for the Shadow Chronicles sequal, I'm not surprised in the slightest. It's a piece of crap. Bullshit, even. I could write a better treatment than that and I'm not college educated. If that is what Robotech has come down to then I'm glad to say that I'm a Narutard. I said it earlier - if anything this looks like an unsolicited pitch from a fan. I heard HG gets a lot of those, and for legal reasons they can't look at them.
It would be interesting if this were a disgruntled fan trying to get some revenge on them. |

that to me means they don't want to see it because it would be an insult to the makers, but not for legal reasons I think. I read the leak and it's a horrible structure for a sequel. I think it's fake, and I don't know why Tommy had a hard time verifying its validity on Space Station liberty. If that story script was that bad among fans he could have at least say " it's fake" or something, otherwise for a common fan (like me) would think that he's won't comment on the topic because it might be an early draft and that could have been the real mcCoy and simply fans didn't like the direction. if that's the case, I think they're better off making PRELUDE or FROM THE STARS film adaptation, I really think if those comics had been films they would have been a bit more effective than TSC. |
